What Is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is one of the oldest holistic “whole-body” healing systems. It was developed more then 3,000 years ago in India. It is based on the belief that health and wellness depends on a delicate balance between the mind, body and spirit. The term Ayurveda is derived from the Sanskrit words ayur (life) and veda (science or knowledge). Translation knowledge of life. Based on the knowledge that disease is due to imbalances or stress in a persons consciousness, Ayurveda encourages lifestyle changes and natural therapies to regain balance in the body, mind, spirit and environment. Ayurveda treatments start with internal purification process, followed by unique regiments, herbal remedies, massage therapy, yoga and meditation.
